History: While not much is known about her past, we do know that Suruga's parents relationship wasn't approved of by the rest of her family, and this led her to live with her grandmother. When she was in elementary school, she was teased by other students for being slow at track. She had inherited what she thought to be a Monkey’s Paw, and decided to make a wish on it so she would be the fastest in her class. The day before a big race, however, classmates that were supposed to be in it were assaulted. Suruga got scared, looking up the actual story of the Monkey’s Paw and realizing it could’ve been a reason for her classmates getting attacked. She decided to stop doing track and switched to basketball instead, where she quickly became the star player.
Because of her status on the team, she was noticed by her upperclassman, Senjyougahara Hitagi. The girls became good friends and became known as the Valhalla Combo. During this time, Suruga developed a crush on Hitagi. In-between the summer of her leaving middle school and entering high school, Hitagi encountered an apparition which caused her to be stripped of her weight. When Suruga entered high school and tried to talk to her, she was threatened by Hitagi, told to keep her secret, and not to talk to her again. She listened, ignoring her old friend until an issue came up that she couldn't ignore.
That issue was Araragi Koyomi, Hitagi's boyfriend. He solved Hitagi's issue, and because of that, she decided to be with him. It made Suruga incredibly jealous, so much so that she stalked him in school. Between her first wish and this time, the Monkey's Paw had attached itself to Suruga's left arm; she wraps it in bandages, but it has the appearance of a gorilla arm. She starts to talk to Koyomi, seemingly acting normal.
That night, however, Koyomi is attacked, violently, by a shadowy figure. He recognizes it as Suruga, and goes to speak with her the next day. She explains to him the condition her arm is in, and he offers to help her with it, like he did with Hitagi.
When he brings her to a supernatural specialist, Oshino, she’s told that her arm isn't the Monkey's Paw... but actually an apparition called a Rainy Devil. While Koyomi thinks that Suruga's arm is the reason for the attack, Oshino says different; Suruga attacked Koyomi on purpose, and out of hatred for him because of his relationship with Hitagi. She's jealous, and attempting to kill him is the only way to solve it. Koyomi still wants to help Suruga, so he asks what they can do. The two of them are told there are two options: cut off Suruga's arm, or let Koyomi be killed by her.
On his own, Koyomi decides to let Suruga kill him and take care of the problem. After a huge, devastating fight occurs, Hitagi shows up and threatens both Koyomi and Suruga; if Koyomi is killed, she will kill Suruga for revenge. Suruga tries to go after Koyomi again anyway, and Hitagi throws herself between them. Seeing the girl she’s in love with stops Suruga, and Hitagi draws her out of her almost-entranced state. Suruga admits the feelings she's had for her upperclassman for so long, and the girl turns her down. Because Suruga couldn't kill Koyomi, her third wish on the 'Monkey's Paw' was irrelevant; so, indirectly, her problem gets solved anyway. Though she has to deal with the appearance of the Rainy Devil's work for a few more years, she isn't cursed by it anymore.
After this, she becomes friends with Hitagi again, and in turn Koyomi, even helping him combat supernatural situations, when he asks her.
Personality: Suruga is a self-proclaimed lesbian, fujoshi, lolicon, and masochist. Her bedroom is filled with yaoi porn novels, and there's not a conversation that goes by where sex isn't mentioned in one way or another. Even though she likes girls, she has no problem flirting with and teasing boys; mainly Koyomi. In fact, when she sees him room for the first time, she immediately starts looking for his porn, saying that 'knowing what he likes is important!'. When she's home she's also constantly naked, or very scantily clothed. She's only fully-dressed when she has to be.
She's athletic, playing on the basketball team and running around the city. She's very happy-go-lucky and free-spirited for the most part; being kind to the people she's friends with and talks to. She jokes a lot, and is the one you’d want to turn to to lighten the mood.
Her worst trait is her jealousy, which shows itself best when she injures her classmates and tries to kill Koyomi. She was angry enough to induce bodily harm and even attempt to kill, because of being made fun of or getting her crush and friend taken away from her.
Most of her personality is pulled from her need of wanting more. Though it isn't said exactly when she was left with her grandmother, you can assume it was early. Either way, a seventeen-year-old girl needs someone to talk to, and Suruga has a distinct lack of that. In fact, if she and Hitagi, who was essentially her 'other half' were separated, it means that for over a year, Suruga had no one. Having your best friend leave you is bad enough; it's twice as much so when it's your crush, too.
Because of that fact, even though when she meets Koyomi she hates him, there's still a part of her that wants to get to know him. He's someone that Hitagi can like, or even love, so inherently, she knows she would probably get along with him too. But Hitagi is picky; it was probably hard for Suruga to get much of anything out of her. For Koyomi to be able to break down her barriers after such a short amount of time... of course she's going to be jealous of him.
After their whole incident happens and they become friends, she still craves that closeness. She uses abrasively sexual language with him most likely for the attention. He's a teenage boy, right? What better for that than sex talk! She also projects her desires onto him, almost making it seem like he's the one making the sexual advances, because she wants to be wanted. This also stems from her loneliness and a need to be close to others.
Because of her upbringing, a fear of rejection would be completely understandable, too; if she opens up with people and immediately admits something about her people could reject her for (her sexuality), then that doesn't give them the chance to get close to her first, if they hate it.
Abilities: Nothing, with the exception of a little above-average strength for a girl her age.
